Ancient meets the future... Ian Naismith's music defies categorization as it is an amalgam of acoustic ethnic, electric world, ambient, natural & organic sounds, progressive & psychedelic rock, avant garde classical, concrete experimental and jazz fusion wrapped within a fourth world vibe. Guitars, stringed instruments, mallet instruments, loops, textures & treatments, and hand percussion from all over the world abound in the recordings. It is not unusual for a recording to have over 100 different instruments. Ingenious usage of spatials, fractals, granulars, and virtual studio technologies give the listener a "new experience" while soaking in the different timbres. Naismith's approach to electric guitar displays a wide range of beautifully strange textures and unusual harmonic layers, and his solo work is truly unique - what Naismith likes to call "serpentine guitar" due to the slippery melodic lines.
